Urban Politics #187: City Council Passes the Budget

Each budget season I try to provide a quick synopsis of how the Council has altered the City Budget as the Mayor presented it to us. In this Urban Politics, I’ve borrowed generously from our staff’s summary. In a few places I’ve added some commentary or abbreviated the material, but overall I’m presenting information as our staff has summarized it. I believe it provides a fair summary the changes the Council made to the new City Budget.


Urban Politics #142: Neighborhood Planning Gathering

The Neighborhood Planning Committee of the City Neighborhood Council is being restarted and as part of that effort is holding a city-wide Neighborhood Planning Gathering this coming Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Pritchard Beach Bathhouse, 8500 South Grattan.


Urban Politics #58: Metropolitan Park District (MPD)

March 4th, 1999

This legislative session has seen a flurry of lobbying activity in Olympia around changes being made to Metropolitan Park Districts. The City and the Zoo Society are advocating for these changes to provide for more funding opportunities for the Zoo, possibly the Aquarium, and city parks.
